Paul Joseph Otto Johansson was born in Spokane, Washington on January 26, 1964. He is the son of ice hockey player Earl Johnson. He was raised in British Colombia, Canada. He was an athlete like his father and played for the Canadian Olympic Basketball Team and the University of British Colombia.

Paul Johansson landed his first role on the popular soap opera Santa Barbara. He had a small role in The Notebook. He starred as the main villain in the highly successful drama One Tree Hill. He played Dan Scott from 2003- 2012.

Paul Johansson’s ex-wife is actress Gabriela Oltean. His brother Pete Johansson is a well known comedian. He has a son named Quinn.
